Publicity shy disco-funk collective The CJP Band continue to offer up must-check nostalgic nuggets via the DIY style Supa Jams imprint. This is the shadowy collective's third missive for the label in short order. It is, of course, another genuine treat, with 'We Must Believe' offering an attractive, all-live mixture of sun-soaked revivalist disco-funk grooves, clipped guitar licks, starry electric piano chords and hazy, layered female vocalisations. In contrast, 'Let The Music Play', featuring Hannah Williams, brilliantly blurs the boundaries between horn-heavy disco-funk, the Whatnuts, and more spiritually-enriching forms of late 1970s jazz-funk.
