Born 1934 in Havana, the man mononymously known as Caunedo unfailingly turned heads and perked ears every time he performed, whether on his own or on stages beside Tito Puente, Machito or Celia Cruz. 'Gauganrock' comes lifted from his third album Fire & Sugar and is a series Afro-Latin jazz-funk stomper, his double-tracked saxophone and fuzz guitar accompaniment making a true statement of bombast, both on the A's 'Spam Mix' and the B counterpart 'Bokolo'.
