Since joining Andy More and Micky Tee's Groove Culture label in 2024, Corrado Alumni has become an integral part of their extended musical family. Last year Alumni delivered his digital-only debut album via the popular imprint, and here serves up two more killer cuts via Groove Culture's occasional seven-inch series. A-side 'Any Time' is a fine example of the producer's hybrid organic/electronic sound, with Billy Preston style electric piano solos riding a driving, disco-funk-meets-house groove. It's breathless and energy-packed, suggesting dancefloor joy is guaranteed. Over on the reverse, 'Soul Groove' inhabitrs similar sonic territory, with low-register organ licks, restless bass guitar and infectious bongo patterns catch the ear - as well as more than a few nods to the Godfather of Soul, James Brown.
