Five years after making their collaborative debut on Dam Swindle's Heist Recordings, Brooklyn buddies Peter Matson (best known for his work with Afrobeat-inspired ensemble Underground System) and Razor N Tape co-founder JKriv have reunited in the studio. The headline attraction is undoubtedly 'Underappreciated', a chunky, retro-futurist slab of horn-sporting Afro-boogie revivalism topped off with a killer lead vocal from Ibibio Sound Machine. It comes backed by a stellar remix by Yuksek, who re-frames it as a throbbing Afro-disco-meets-Italo-disco anthem, and two bonus cuts. Olyvia handles lead vocals on the Chic-goes-electrofunk authenticity of 'Facile', while superb closing cut 'Over Suffa', featuring Samy Love, is an infectious, gritty and colourful slab of bubblegum-goes-nu-disco brilliance.
