Italian reissue specialists Groovin' Records continue to offer up archival gold. This time round, they've taken a dive into the bulging back catalogue of legendary New Jersey garage-house duo Blaze, return with two passes on 1999 single 'Wishing You Were Here'. On side A, we get Dave Lee's take (as Joey Negro, an alias he retired some years back), a deliciously organic chunk of gently breezy soulful house marked out by smooth vocals, jazzy bass guitar and even jazzier electric piano. Over on the flip, Blaze's old friend Timmy Regisford takes the controls. Reaching for squelchy acid bass, tighter beats and simmering synth-strings, the NYC house pioneer delivers a take that adds toughness to the long-serving twosome's looser and more light-touch original.
