Natasha Diggs, New York's '45 Queen', gets properly stuck into Millie Jackson's late-70s kiss-off here, stretching 'What Went Wrong Last Night' across two increasingly lavish sides. Part one takes its time, strings sweeping wide over a prowling disco bassline before Jackson starts laying into the lyric with that wonderfully dry, unimpressed delivery. Part two is all release with fizzing hi-hats and busy percussion. The ten-minute version joins both halves and is, frankly, the sensible choice. Nine minutes was apparently not enough.
