Led by vocalist Bernadette Bascom - whose later mentorship under Stevie Wonder shaped her into one of the Northwest's great soul voices - the group fuse satin-smooth r&b melodies with the rhythmic heft of deep 70s funk. Recorded at Kaye-Smith Studios with producer Don McKinney, 'Magic Carpet' glides on Rhodes chords and honeyed harmonieswhile 'When You Were In Love With Me' leans into aching slow-burn soul, Bascom's voice commanding and tender in equal measure. A vivid rediscovery from the Pacific coast's overlooked funk lineage, newly restored with care.
