Freedom is usually a light-hearted feeling. We'd bet no other contemporary funk band has ever made it feel this heavy; "real life band" and revolving door collective CJP have broken the weighing scales with 'Freedom', their debut funk outing for Supa Jams after 'We Must Believe' from 2024. This one's a little bit more forward, brasher, beginning on a creeping drum beat bleeding into a campus of chorused voices and electric piano. The 'String Dub' simplifies things, stripping it all back to just the noodly-high bass strings and tight, unfiltered drums.
